A boy has been arrested in connection with the assault of a jogger in Ramsbottom.
Last night a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. He remains in custody for questioning.
The arrest is in connection with an assault that took place sometime between 5:45am and 6:15am in Nuttall Park yesterday morning.
A 49-year-old woman had been running down Lower Nuttall Road on a track when the offender forced her to the floor and struck her in the head a number of times before fleeing the scene.
Detective Sergeant Lawrence Dixon, of GMP’s Bury borough, said:

Last night we arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of section 18 assault and he remains in custody to be questioned by detectives later today. We will continue to have an increased visible police presence in the area today and I ask that anybody with concerns please approach one of our officers on patrol to report them.
