Badger culling has been given the go-ahead in 10 new areas at high risk of tuberculosis in cattle. Cheshire and Cumbria are two of the areas where culling is now taking place. Data published by the Government shows the rate of TB in cattle has halved in the first two cull areas since the programme began. The reduction has been welcomed by the farming unions. But wildlife organisations have described the governments policy on dealing with TB as 'inhumane and ill-considered".
