The driver of the Nissan – a man in his 20s – was taken to hospital where he is in a life-threatening condition.

Since the time of the collision, officers have spoken to a number of witnesses however, they believe some witnesses have not yet made contact with them.

Police Constable Neil Pennington of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

Sadly, the man is still in the same condition in hospital and we don’t yet know if he will fully recover. While our thoughts remain with his family who are by his bedside, our enquiries continue.

We know that the collision sparked a lot of interest on the street at the time and there were several people that have made comments on social media with information that could be vital to us.

We’re still piecing together the moments leading up to and immediately after the collision and need any information, no matter how small, to be passed onto us directly.
