A clergyman is hoping for a tonic for church finances by launching Britain's first ever cathedral-brand gin.
The Dean of Blackburn, the Very Reverend Peter Howell Jones, aims to sell the 40% spirit to cash in on the country's current gin craze.
And he hopes the gin, called Cathedra, will be sold at cathedrals across the country, providing new cash for their mission and ministry.
Gin is on trend; it is a developing market, and there is a long history of monastic communities brewing mead, wines and beers. I wanted to create a brand that would work across the country; that could create a income stream from which all English Cathedrals can benefit.
