Appeal to help orphans whose parents died just days apart raises £26,000

A brother and sister who lost both of their parents within days of each other have had more than £26,000 raised for them by their local community.

Eric Ryan passed away on November 22 after being diagnosed with cancer. His wife Lynne was found dead in the family home just three days later.

It left James and Rebecca Ryan orphaned.

A fundraising page launched in an attempt to cover the costs of a joint funeral was supported by the siblings' local community - with posters put up by local shopkeepers.

The siblings said they haven't been left with a lot of money from their parents, who had been married for 24 years.

Eric and Lynne had been married for 24 years.

Hundreds of people have taken to the page to pay their condolences.

One anonymous donor wrote: "Thinking of you both kiddos.. You are very strong & you will make it. Stay together."
