Police arrest 14-year-old boy after Bury church fire

Police investigating a fire at a church in Bury have made an arrest.

At around 8pm on Saturday 22 December 2018, police were contacted by the fire service to a report of a fire at Heaton Park Methodist Church, Bury Old Road.

The blaze was extinguished by the fire service.

Further enquiries carried out by police established that the church was broken into shortly before the fire occurred and a number of items were stolen from inside.

A boy aged 14 has been arrested on suspicion of arson and burglary.

He remains in police custody for questioning.
