Potential victims of domestic abuse could soon get better protection, as the government plans to strengthen a scheme allowing checks on a partner's criminal history.
'Clare's Law' is named in memory of murder victim Clare Wood. She was killed by her violent ex-boyfriend in Salford in 2009.
Under the scheme, police forces do not always release the information because they have a discretion. The government plans to change that by making such disclosures compulsory.
The Domestic Abuse Bill will be published in parliament today.
