Two arrested after man run over by his own car as it was being stolen

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after he suffered serious head injuries when he was hit by his own car as it was being stolen in Greater Manchester.

Two people have been arrested after the incident on Nook Lane in Ashton-under-Lyne.

The emergency services were called to reports of a serious collision, and the 63-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries. He remains in a critical condition.

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Friday evening, and a 45-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They remain in custody for questioning.

“A man is now fighting for his life as a result of this incident and we have deployed several resources to the area who are working to locate those involved.

“I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information or dash-cam footage to get in touch as soon as possible so that we can find those responsible for this horrific incident.”
