A family's lives have been turned upside down after their baby was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy.

Six month Harris Khan's family now have a fight to get him on the drugs that could help.

But, it's a race against time as they've been told it's unlikely he'll make his first birthday. And, they've been told that a medication that was once available through the NHS isn't an option.

Harris's father spoke to our correspondent Amy Welch.

A spokesperson for NHS England said:

We understand how difficult and frustrating it is for families waiting for decisions to be taken on the funding of new treatments, which is why the company must price this drug responsibly and at a level which is both cost effective and affordable to the NHS. It is disappointing that Biogen chose to close the Early Access Programme for new patients with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 before the NICE assessment process had been completed.”
