"Close call' for paramedics after a bottle is thrown at a ambulance smashing a side window.
The emergency vehicle will be off the road for a week, after the attack on the A6 near Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport at around 9.20pm on Sunday night.
A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) described it as a 'close call' for paramedics inside the vehicle.
"Thankfully nobody was injured and no patients were on board but it was very a very frightening experience and now means that an ambulance will be off the road for at least a week."
In May last year paramedics rushing a child to hospital were showered with glass when a yob smashed an ambulance window in Salford.
