Paramedic hurt by stone thrown through moving ambulance's window

A medic has been hit on the head after a stone was thrown through the window of a moving ambulance in Liverpool.

It happened on Saturday evening while the emergency vehicle was driving along Eaton Road in West Derby.

North West Ambulance Service say there was an injured child in the back of the vehicle at the time, and the blue were lights on.

Although no one was seriously hurt, police say the consequences "could have easily been catastrophic".

The stone also caused damage to the ambulance.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible, with Inspector Andrew Gardiner of Merseyside Police urging any witnesses to "do the right thing" and contact police.

For someone to target an ambulance with paramedics inside treating a young patient is absolutely abhorrent. Thankfully there were no more serious injuries caused but the consequences could have easily been catastrophic for those inside, and for other road users.
