Man arrested on suspicion of murder after fight in Bootle

A murder investigation's underway after a man died following a fight in Bootle.

Police were called to Monfa Road just before 2am on Bank Holiday Monday where they found a man in his 30s with life-threatening injuries.

He died in hospital.

A 41-year-old man from Bootle was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has been taken to a police station in Merseyside.

A cordon remains in place while forensic, house-to-house and CCTV enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: “We’re currently in the very early stages of the investigation into this incident and it is vital that anyone with information that could assist our enquiries gets in touch.

This is a truly shocking crime which has occurred in a residential area, and a man has tragically lost his life in an appalling act of violence.
