Man dies in hospital after 'serious assault' following LFC Champions League final

A man who was assaulted outside a hotel after watching Liverpool's Champions League victory with his two sons has died.

Ventsislav Marginov, who was 51 and living in Southport, was found unconscious on Lord Street in the town on Saturday.

He died from his injuries in hospital.

Police say one of his sons was also assaulted and suffered facial injuries.

31 year old James Peter Gelling has been charged with grievous bodily harm.

A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent has been released on conditional bail.

Police would like to hear from anyone with information.
