Police confirm shooting near Salford school

Police officers have confirmed they are currently responding to reports of a shooting in Salford.

Shortly after 2pm on Thursday 11 July 2017, police were called to reports that a number of shots had been exchanged between the rider of a motorcycle and the occupants of a car in Liverpool Street.

The occupants of the vehicle, a blue Renault Megane, fled the scene as did the motorcyclist.

There are no reported injuries at this time.

No arrests have been made.

A scene is in place in Liverpool Street as police continue with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Joanne Kay, of GMP’s Salford District, said:

There is a large police presence at the scene and officers will be there for some time carrying out their enquiries.
