Grieving mum demands automatic legal aid for inquest families

There are calls to make legal aid automatically available for the relatives of people whose death involved a public body.

Angela Pownall had to resort to loans to pay for an inquest into the death of her son Adrian, who died after being released from a mental health unit in December 2016. She was denied any legal aid.

She is meeting the newly appointed Legal Aid minister after the government rejected automatic non-means-tested public funding for the bereaved.
