Concert-goers contribute millions of pounds to the economy of Greater Manchester every year, according to the body representing the UK music industry.

A report from UK Music shows 1.9m people attended a concert in the city-region in 2017, spending a total of £169m.

The organisation were commissioned to review the area's music scene, and how best to safeguard it for the future, by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

UK Music recommend protecting grassroots music venues, increasing the amount of rehearsal space available and offering more opportunities for young people "from every background" to have a career in music.
