A man with dementia who went missing from his home in Aintree has now not been seen for a week.

76-year-old Peter Kerevan was last sighted on CCTV on Wango Lane, after leaving his home on the morning of Monday 29 July.

There was also a reported sighting at 3pm on the same day, outside Maghull Chiropodists.

Mr Kerevan is a keen walker, and specialist officers have spent the weekend carrying out "extensive" searches of the routes he liked to take.

Police say they have been focussing on areas around Aintree and Maghull - as Peter would often walk the towpath of the Leeds Liverpool canal.

Detective Inspector Paul Gillies has thanked member of the public who have volunteered to help with the search for Peter, adding "I know his family are extremely grateful."

I would also like to remind people to remain safe when they are out searching for Peter.
