An Uzi sub-machine gun, an AK47 and a machine gun from World War Two are among the weapons that have been safely taken into police custody during a firearms surrender in Greater Manchester.

The two week campaign saw 140 firearms handed in during the amnesty.

It's a chance for people to hand in unlawfully held or unwanted guns and ammunition to stop them getting into the wrong hands.

This surrender is not just targeting those involved in criminal behaviour it’s also aimed at collectors, licence holders and anyone who has inherited a firearm.

Many firearms may be held in innocence and ignorance of their illegality or may be forgotten in people’s homes.
