A Manchester United fan is asking for help to track down those who stopped to help her dad after he was badly hurt in a fall outside Old Trafford.

Beth Neilson, 25, was leaving United's opening game of the season against Chelsea on Sunday August 11, with her dad, Dave Penny, 57, who is a lifelong fan of United.

On leaving the ground, Dave fell and hit his head on the concourse, sustaining injuries to his head where he was rushed to hospital and remains in a stable condition.

The incident happened between 7.30pm and 7.45pm and Beth says five people stopped to help her dad.

She believes one of those who assisted was an off-duty paramedic or nurse who liaised with the ambulance crew, and a group of four friends, three United fans and a Chelsea fan, one of whom was called Christian.

In an emotional appeal in a video posted to Twitter, Beth said:

Me and my family are desperately trying to find them as we want to thank them and give them a bit of an update on my dad.

I have nothing to offer you except my thanks and gratitude. I wish I could say I have money and stuff but I don't.

They were so helpful and really reassuring, I completely froze. They went straight into action

It must have been such a scary situation for you as well. I've never been so appreciative of anything in my life.

– Beth Neilson
