A Liverpool supporter who was injured after allegedly being set upon and attacked by Napoli supporters has been released from hospital.
Merseyside Police say the assault on 26-year-old Steven Allen took place ahead of last night's match. A second man, aged 46, was also injured.
The men were treated at the scene after suffering cuts and grazes before continuing to attend the match. However, Mr Allen was later taken to hospital after passing out at the stadium during half time.
After hearing about the incident on social media, the chief executive of Liverpool FC Peter Moore attended the bedside of Mr Allen and tweeted to say he wouldn't leave it until he was comfortable that the Liverpool supporter was ''fine.''
In a second Tweet Mr Moore praised staff and police for helping the fan and said his condition would be monitored throughout the course of last night. He added that Mr Allen was thankful for everyone's concern.
