Samaritans volunteer taking on 6000-mile walking challenge reaches the Isle of Man

A Samaritans volunteer is attempting to walk to every Samaritans branch in the UK and Ireland over the next two years.

David Matthews started his 6000-mile journey on April 14th and this week has reached the Isle of Man branch in Douglas.

The aim is to raise £100,000 for Samaritans and recruit 1,000 new volunteers for the charity while on route.

He is already over 1,000 miles into the full distance.

The challenge started in Doncaster where David was a volunteer for 11 years, before moving to the west coast of Scotland.

The Douglas branch is also celebrating its 40th anniversary of being in operation on the Island this week.
