Airport bosses are warning of the dangers of fireworks after a light aircraft had a near miss in Salford.
City Airport in Salford, also known as Barton Aerodrome, said 'at least' two fireworks were set off underneath the main runway approach.
The pilot was forced to abort the landing, but touched down safely soon after. The incident is understood to have happened on Friday morning.
Bosses put out a statement via facebook calling the act 'dangerous, stupid and irresponsible.'
The airport is also home to the North West Air Ambulance and a number of flying schools.
There were calls on Facebook for police to be involved, although it's not known whether the incident was officially reported to GMP - there is a criminal charge of 'endangering the safety of an aircraft'.
