To mark Armistice Day this year Sefton Council has been contacting people who live in houses once occupied by men who died in the First World War.

The scheme is called "Beyond the War Memorials" and two of the people contacted were so touched that they traveled to France to find the graves of the soldiers who had lived in their house.

Terri and Alan Whitaker learned that three brothers had all died in France and as parents of four boys themselves they decided to go and pay tribute.
