A woman has been attacked by a group of masked men armed with a machete.

People living on Old Road in the Blackley area of North Manchester described seeing a car pull up with the gang, who went inside a house holding knives and other weapons.

"Banging" was heard inside the home, before the group fled the scene.

Emergency services flooded the residential street - bringing armed officers, a dog unit and police helicopter.

A police spokeswoman said: "Shortly before 8.10pm on Tuesday 12 November 2019 police were called to a report that a woman had been attacked by men armed with machetes and weapons on Old Road Blackley."

"Officers attended and found that a woman had suffered minor injuries after she was assaulted by a group of men.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
