The body of a large crocodile has reportedly been found near a hospital in Liverpool.
Photos were circulating on social media showing what appears to be a type of reptile, found on a footpath near the Walton Centre.
A number of people originally mistook it for a branch or stuffed toy.
Throughout the day the creature was photographed in further locations around the area before being captured cut in half on the pavement.
One woman, who chose not to be named, said: "People have been commenting saying they saw it on the road and then on the grass verge so I don't know whether it has been run over."
"Some people think that maybe someone kept it as a pet and it got too big so they've let it out and it has died."
