A man has died after falling from a building on the outskirts of Manchester city centre.
It happened in the New Islington area, which neighbours Ancoats, on Tuesday evening.
A large emergency service response was seen close to the towpath of the Ashton Canal, which runs through the area.
It had been taped off with police officers and paramedics on the scene.
It is believed that a man had fallen from an apartment block nearby.
Police say they were called to reports of the concern for the welfare of a man and that despite the best efforts of emergency services he could not be saved.
Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 6.20pm on Tuesday 3 December 2019, officers were called to Lampwick Lane in Ancoats, Manchester to reports of the concern for the welfare of a man.
"Emergency services attended but despite best efforts from paramedics, a man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will be passed to the coroner."
