A 75-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder after his partner was found dead in hospital has been freed - after a post-mortem revealed she died of natural causes.
Police were called to reports of a suspicious death of a 69-year-old woman at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan, Greater Manchester, at about 9.30pm on Friday.
Her partner, from Ormskirk, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
But he was freed from custody after a post-mortem revealed the woman had died from natural causes.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said her family has been told and a file will be passed to the coroner following an investigation.
