Campaigners call for bus services to be taken out of private hands

Despite efforts to get more of us out of our cars and onto public transport, the use of buses in some parts of our region is actually falling.

Which is one of the reasons campaigners in Greater Manchester marched through the city today with a petition calling for the area's bus services to be taken out of private hands and brought back into the public sector.

Their action comes less than a week before a consultation is due to close into the future of bus transport in the area.
