Mostly dry by afternoon, after a wet and wintry start, with just a few scattered rain, sleet & snow showers persisting. Feeling cold in the wind. Highs to 7°C.
Any showers fading away quickly for the evening to leave a predominantly clear and calm start to the night, leading to some ice and frost forming. Cloud will push in from the west late, lifting temperatures a little by dawn. Initial lows down to -3°C.
A band of rain and hill snow will push across the region during the morning. Snow should turn back to rain but will last much of day, some heavy pulses likely. Turning windy again, especially around coasts. Highs around 8°C.
Remaining unsettled. Very wet overnight into Saturday before turning showery. Becoming very windy for much of the weekend - gusts in excess of 60-65mph for the coasts, Isle on Man and Pennines/Fells - with frequent spells of rain and hill snow possible. Winds should ease on Monday.
