Boxer Anthony Crolla on on losing gym in Oldham mill blaze: "My heart is broken"

The boxer Anthony Crolla has sent his thoughts to those who have lost their livelihoods in a huge blaze in Oldham.

A gym owned by the former WBA lightweight champion was one of a number of premises thought to have been destroyed inside the former mill on Morton Street in Failsworth.

Crews were first called to the scene at 5:22am on Sunday.

At its height, crews from 8 fire engines tackled the incident.

Engineers from Electricity North West have been working to reconnect power to a number of local homes and businesses.

Firefighters are now damping down the building.

"I want to praise the work of our firefighters who are working extremely hard to extinguish this fire and are expected to remain at this incident for a number of hours."
