North West Ambulance paramedic dies after contracting Covid-19

The North West Ambulance Service has paid tribute to a paramedic who died after contracting coronavirus.

The long standing member of staff was married with children and passed away on Friday in Hospital.

The NWAS made the announcement "with great sadness" saying "a very dear colleague has been lost to Covid 19.

On behalf of everyone here at NWAS, including our patients and the communities we serve, I would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family. "We would also like to thank our NHS colleagues for their professionalism and the compassionate care they have shown for our friend. "This will deeply affect many people within the trust and we are supporting our staff during this very sad time. "We will not be making any further announcements. This statement is the only information that we will be sharing."
