Fire crews remain at the scene of a large fire on an industrial estate in Newton-le-Willows on Merseyside.
The main fire has now been extinguished with crews now undertaking hot spotting and damping down operations.
A meeting is to take place this morning (May 21) to plan the response.
A major incident was declared after the alarm was raised at just after 11am yesterday (May 20). 20 fire engines were at the Sankey Valley Industrial Estate.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said its firefighters were "working in really challenging heat conditions."
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said the fire involved a large quantity of plastic crates and a brick building approximately 50m x 30m.
Plumes of smoke could be seen for miles and nearby businesses and residents are still being told to keep windows and doors closed.
A nearby caravan site has been evacuated and road closures are in place around the area.
