Man dies after crash outside popular match day pub in Anfield
A man has died following a crash outside a match day pub justyards from Liverpool FC's Anfield stadium.
Police were called to Oakfield Road, at the junction with Breck Road, ataround 5.30am on Wednesday.
Two cars were significantly damaged after they collided outside ThePaisley Gates pub, just half a mile from the famous football ground.
A red Vauxhall Corsa had come to a rest on the pavement, inches fromthe pub, with the blue BMW 530 also involved.
Merseyside Police confirmed one man, a passenger in the rear of theCorsa, died shortly after arriving at hospital.
The driver of the Corsa, a man in his 60s, is in a serious but stablecondition in hospital.
The victim's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.
