A murder investigation has been launched after a 26 year old man was stabbed to death in Merseyside.

Police and paramedics were called out to a house in Oakham Street in Dingle in the early hours of Friday morning, but could not save the life of Dre Estridge.

His family have now spoken of their heartbreak.

"You were the most amazing, intelligent person I knew. We love you Dre. I promise that my heart will never be the same without you. We will love and miss you forever."

Over the weekend bouquets of flowers appeared at the scene of the stabbing alongside cards of condolence from friends.

Today detectives said they wanted to speak to a 17-year-old boy from Wavertree about the stabbing issuing an appeal for help in tracing Trene Colcozy-Rogers.

“At this time the motive for the attack is unknown and we are keeping an open mind. We’d like to remind the public that should you recognise Trene or know where he is, please let us know as we believe he could have crucial information to help us with our investigations.
