A woman's body has been found after a reported explosion caused a house to collapse in Bury.
Emergency services are continuing to search the scene after residents reported hearing a 'loud bang' on East View in Summerseat, in Ramsbottom.
Greater Manchester Fire Service, Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service were called just before 9.30pm on Wednesday 17 February.
A woman and child were taken to hospital following the collapse, their injuries are not believed to be serious. Three others were also treated at the scene.Five houses have been evacuated as a precaution and a small scene remains in place.
Following the collapse 25 properties were evacuated, though most people have now been allowed home.
Crews are expected to remain at the scene throughout the day.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers responding to reports of a collapsed house in Ramsbottom have sadly found the body of a woman."Emergency services were called just before 9.30pm last night (Wednesday 17 February 2021) to reports that a house had collapsed on East View in Summerseat."Five properties were evacuated as a precaution and a small scene remains in place. "A woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. "Three people were treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries. A woman and a child were also taken to hospital with minor injuries. "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident."A joint investigation is currently underway between GMP, GMFRS and Bury local authority partners."
