Tourism bosses in Blackpool are searching for a singer after The Script were forced to pull out of their illuminations switch on concert.

The band say they've taken the difficult decision because of a family matter. In a statement The Script’s management said:

“It is with deepest regret that The Script have had to cancel both their Leeds Academy (29th Aug) and the Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On concert (30th Aug) shows due to a sudden serious family illness.”

Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of Marketing Blackpool, said:

“We are deeply saddened that The Script have been forced to cancel their Blackpool Illuminations gig but we totally understand and appreciate that personal family matters take priority and our thoughts are with the band and their families at this time.

“We are currently working with artist management to secure a replacement act for Friday’s Switch-On and will announce this information as soon as we are able to.

“The weekend will still go ahead.”

Madness tickets are still available at £20.

Full refunds are available to people who bought tickets for The Script. You must have proof of purchase and obtain the refund from the point of purchase.

Gary Barlow has tweeted he might perform if a donation is made to charity.
