Thousands of people are expected to line the streets of Liverpool later to say a final farewell to one of the city's most famous sons Sir Ken Dodd.

The civic leaders and colleagues from the world of showbuisness will join Sir Ken's family and friends for his funeral at the Anglican Cathedral.

The cortege is expected leave from his home in Knotty Ash.

The long-time partner of Sir Ken Dodd has thanked his fans and supporters for their show of love following the comedy legend's death.

Lady Anne Dodd was by Sir Ken's side for forty years. The pair married just two days before he passed away at the age of 90.

Since then, his home in Knotty Ash has become a temporary shrine, where people have left flowers, messages, and even tickling sticks.

His funeral will take place in Liverpool on Wednesday, and will be streamed on big screens for those who can't get inside the Cathedral:

Sir Ken Dodd's partner of 40 years has paid tribute to him as a "life-enhancing and brilliant comedian".

Anne Jones wed the comedian at their home in Liverpool, just a few days before his death at the age of 90.
