A Staffordshire Bull Terrier once described as 'Britain's loneliest dog', is returning to the Merseyside rescue centre that cared for her. Freya, is helping fundraising efforts for the Freshfields Animal Rescue Centre, which could be at risk of closure.
Freya has epilepsy and waited 6 years for her new home. She went on to land a part in Hollywood blockbuster Transformers playing Sir Anthony Hopkins' dog. It also stars Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci !
Her new owner lives in Cheadle Hulme.
Freya was there with all the stars, there were helicopters, tanks, fast cars and explosions.
She was the only dog on set but was fantastic with it all.
She was dubbed the world’s loneliest dog, 18,700 people visited the dog home without taking her home. Now she is doing quite a lot of personal appearances and I have just got an agent for her.
She loves attention so is in the right line of work.
– Her new owner Ray Collins from Cheadle Hulme
The rescue centre in Ince Blundell, Southport, has been caring for animals for nearly 40 years but is closed to new admissions because of rising costs and an increase in distressed animals. They say the sanctuary is under serious threat. They currently have 550 animals and birds, and are always full to capacity with many more on waiting lists.
