BREAKING: Six taken to hospital after bus hits bridge

Six people have been taken to hospital, after a double decker bus hit a railway bridge - ripping off its roof.

Emergency crews were called to the crash on George's Rd, Stockport at 1.39pm.

Firefighters rescued three women and three men from the wreckage.

One witness told Granada Reports that he saw a girl being treated within what remained of the top deck of the bus.

Woman, 81, critical after bus collision in Manchester

A woman, who is believed to be 81, is in a critical condition after a collision in Manchester city centre involving a bus.

It happened just before 3pm today in Piccadilly Gardens.

The woman suffered serious injuries to her right leg as well as an injury to her head. She was taken to the Manchester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Police say they fear the injuries may be life-threatening.
