The star of Cilla the Musical has been showing off her new scouse accent and her amazing voice. Kara Lily Hayworth appears alongside Andrew Lancel who plays Brian Epstein in the world premiere. It's all happening at the Liverpool Empire at the end of the week before a nationwide tour.. Cilla's son Robert said it had to start at the Liverpool Empire because 'it was a place that meant so much to Mum.' Our reporter Victoria Grimes went to see final rehearsals in London.

CILLA - THE MUSICAL is a heart-warming musical adaptation of the critically acclaimed hit ITV television series by Bafta Award winner, Jeff Pope. It tells the extraordinary story of the teenage girl from Liverpool whose teenage dreams of stardom lead to her becoming one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers of all time.
It’s an introduction by a young John Lennon to music mogul Brian Epstein that changes Pricilla White’s life forever. By the age of just 25 she would be known as singer and TV Star Cilla Black, Number One selling artist and at the fore-front of the Brit-Pop music scene.
The musical score is the ultimate soundtrack to the 60’s including Cilla’s greatest hits Anyone Who Had a Heart, Alfie and Something Tells Me, Twist and Shout by the Beatles, California Dreamin by The Mamas and The Papas’ and many more
It will tour to locations including Manchester and Chester. ,
The cast will also include Amy Bridges, Gemma Brodrick-Bower, Paul Broughton, Bill Caple, Tom Christian and Tom Dunlea.
It is produced by Bill Kenwright, Laurie Mansfield and Black’s son Robert Willis.

Hundreds of hopefuls have queued up round the block for open auditions for Cilla the Musical at the Empire theatre in Liverpool.
The auditions are being held by producers from Bill Kenwright Ltd and Executive Producer of the new musical, Cilla's son, Robert Willis.

A new statue of Cilla Black will be officially unveiled on Mathew Street as part of the celebrations.
The late star worked as a cloakroom girl before finding fame.
The bronze sculpture is being commissioned by her three sons, Robert, Ben and Jack, who are donating it to the city in memory of their mum.
The world-famous Cavern Club in Liverpool is celebrating its 60th birthday.
The music venue in a cellar on Mathew Street became synonymous with the Merseybeat movement in the 1960s.
It was where the likes of The Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers and other bands began their rise-to-fame.
