These heart-warming pictures taken by Lancashire firefighter Phil Whittaker show the moment a horse was rescued from a ditch in Darwen.
Firefighters from Blackburn and Darwen rushed to the rescue to a farm off Private Road, Hoghton, at 2.30pm today.
Children playing in a nearby field noticed the horse, who is named Rosie, stuck in the ditch and called the emergency services.
The family of a couple who were killed in Hoghton have said they were "devoted to their family and will be sadly missed".

Police were called yesterday evening to an address on Charles Crescent in Hoghton where the body of a woman aged in her 50s was found in an upstairs bedroom. The house remains sealed off whilst an investigation takes place.
A person has been hit by a train at the Station Road automatic level crossing in Hoghton, near Preston. They died at the scene at around 8:30am this morning, after colliding with the 8:16am Preston to Colne service.
It is the second railway death in the region this weekend, after a man died near Chorley yesterday. Rail replacement buses are in operation between Preston and Blackburn.
