She then headed off to a recording studio in Manchester - fuelling speculation she has been inspired to write new material during her stay here.

The arrival of the star on Monday has been an unexpected treat for fans as she prepares for the final gigs of her ArtPop World Tour.

Man proposes to his boyfriend on stage at Gaga gig

Pop superstar Lady Gaga interrupted her gig at the Manchester phones4u arena on Tuesday to let a man propose to his boyfriend on stage.

In the middle of her packed out show she called her friend 'Shaun' up onto stage so that he could ask his boyfriend 'Jay' to marry him.

She then went on to sing the newly engaged couple a special version of her hit-single Born this way.

Lady Gaga has always been a vocal advocate of gay rights.

Wether you are young or old or in the middle, if you are gay hold your head up high and be proud.

If anybody here is uncomfortable with this conversation they should probably go... Because they're on the wrong side of history.

Love conquers all things.

Lady Gaga has announced a series of UK arena dates later this year as part of her forthcoming tour.

The US star has lined up four British shows including one at Manchester Phones 4u arena plus a gig in Dublin in October as she sets off on her artRave: The ARTPOP Ball tour.

Gaga is to play Birmingham's National Indoor Arena on October 15, Dublin's O2 Arena on October 17, Glasgow's SSE Hydro on October 19, Manchester's Phones 4u Arena on October 21 and London's O2 Arena on October 23.

Sales of the singer's much-hyped Artpop album, released last year, failed to meet expectations and did not even figure in the bestsellers of last year in the UK.

Lady Gaga is back in Manchester for her Born this Way world tour. The gig at the Manchester Arena is one of just three british shows.

Superfans started queuing outside the Arena eight days ago after the star revealed she would give a 'monster pit key' to the first fan to arrive at each show on the tour. The 'keyholder' is permitted to take three friends backstage to meet the star.
