Having sat idle for over five decades, the viaduct is being given a new lease of life by providing green spaces and a sanctuary for wildlife.

The "tobacco cliffs" at Formby were used as a dumping ground for thousands of tonnes of wet tobacco leaf between the 1950s and 1970s.

Temporary planning permission has been granted to tranform the disused Castlefield viaduct in Manchester city centre into a New York Style urban park.
