VIDEO: Mourinho hits back at Pogba critics

Manchester United's manager has launched a staunch defence of the world's most expensive player, Paul Pogba.

The 24-year-old returned to Old Trafford in August to an enormous fanfare and huge cost, with Juventus potentially receiving 110million euros (£93.25million) for the midfielder.

However, Pogba has flattered to deceive at times since returning to United and criticism peaked following an underwhelming display in Monday's FA Cup quarter-final defeat at Chelsea.

Few gave Jose Mourinho's claims that he was the "best player on the pitch" much credence but the United boss has now hit back at the criticisms from some onlookers:

Paul Pogba surprises Manchester United Foundation volunteer

It's a great week for footballers springing festive surprises, now it's the turn of Manchester United's Paul Pogba.

Joao is a 17-year-old volunteer at the Manchester United Foundation and coaches children as part of the Street Reds programme.

He's worked so hard this year that the Manchester United Foundation decided to reward him, with a gift from his idol.

Joao believed he was taking part in filming for the Foundation and received a huge surprise when his football hero Paul Pogba arrived bearing early Christmas gifts of an Xbox and FIFA 17 game.

The French star spent time giving tips and having a kick about with the young volunteer before signing shirts for Joao and his father.

Rapper Stormzy welcomes Pogba to Manchester United

UK rapper Stormzy has released a clip of him dancing alongside Paul Pogba to celebrate the 23-year-old's move to Old Trafford.

Pogba signed a five-year contract with the option of a sixth season after United agreed a deal with Juventus understood to be worth £89million.


Pogba arrives at Carrington for United medical

Paul Pogba has arrived in Manchester ahead of his world record breaking move to Manchester United.

The 23-year-old flew into Manchester Airport before travelling to Carrington where he will undergo a medical this afternoon.

The France international is expected to become the first player to cost more than £100m. Once confirmed, it will be the midfielder's second spell at Manchester United after he left for Juventus four years ago.

Pogba on the pads as the world's media wait for United move

As the world's media continues to speculate on whether today will be 'Pogba Day', the French midfielder is continuing to enjoy his holiday with a spot of Kickboxing.

Paul Pogba has been linked with a return to Manchester United all summer. The deal could be worth more than £100 million pounds if it's completed.

The 23-year-old left United exactly four years ago today for around £800,000. The club now want to break the world transfer fee record to bring him back to Old Trafford.
