Police are appealing for information after an "utterly appalling" assault in Preston.

At around 1:45am on Sunday 12 August, a 25 year old man from Barrow-in-Furness was subjected to homophobic abuse and then attacked by up to five men.

He was left with a fractured jaw and was unable to open his eye.

DC Andy Forsyth said "There is no place for any kind of homophobia in Preston and we are determined to find the thugs responsible."

Anyone with information is asked to get in touch.
