Terminally ill woman marries after help from community

Kathryn described her big day as 'magical', whilst husband Nick said his bride looked 'stunning, absolutely gorgeous' as she walked down the aisle. ''I couldn't have wished for anything better'', he told Granda Reports.

Patricia Harrison from charity Gift of a Wedding organised Kathryn's big day, with help from local wedding industry suppliers and members of the community who stepped in to lend a hand when they heard Kathryn's story.

A terminally ill woman from Ramsbottom has celebrated the wedding of her dreams thanks to the generosity of her community.

Kathryn De Wet who is terminally ill with breast cancer, married her partner Nick Slattery at a ceremony in Bury on Saturday. It's after charity Gift of a Wedding stepped in to help - they organised the day after Kathryn was told to bring her wedding forward after her treatment proved unsuccessful.

Friends and family gathered to wish them well, including Kathryn's dog Sheeva who acted as ring bearer on the day.

The heartbreaking story of Kathryn and Nick's big day

A couple from Ramsbottom are preparing for their wedding tomorrow - knowing they'll only have a few months together as husband and wife.

Kathryn De-Wet has terminal cancer. She was told to bring forward her marriage to Nick Slattery after her treatment proved unsuccessful.

The big day has been made possible by businesses giving their services for free through a charity.

A terminally ill woman from Ramsbottom will get married this weekend thanks to a North West charity.

Gift of a Wedding organises the day so couples can celebrate the time they have left together.

Kathryn De-Wet who has breast cancer will marry her partner Nick tomorrow.

Kathryn told Granada. "We were told try and do it quite quickly because of the situation that I'm in and that's where the pressure came from really. That's where Gift of a Wedding came in."

The charity relies on donations from wedding companies and the local community.

Viewers video showing severity of Ramsbottom fire

More than 30 firefighters from Lancashire and Greater Manchester have tackled a blaze at a warehouse in Ramsbottom over the weekend.

The building had been used for making fuel from waste products - including oil.

A viewer has allowed us to show the pictures he caught on his camera.
