Southport's Tommy Fleetwood is one of the heroes of the Ryder Cup.
The 27 year old was a rookie making his debut in the tournament in Paris.
To chants of 'Tommy Tommy Fleetwood' and 'Ole Ole Ole' he was lifted in celebration, after his record breaking performance, winning his first four matches, only losing his single matches on the last day to Tony Finau who played sublime golf.
Fleetwod's playing partner over the first two days, Francesco Molinari fittingly secured the winning point, with victory in the singles, to win all 5 of his matches
Fleetwood, who was part of Europe's star pair with Molinari, paid tribute to his partner.
"It couldn't have gone any better. Frankie (Molinari) is unbelievable," he said.
"He is one good golfer and he deserves all the credit he gets. It was fitting he hit the winning shot as well."
"To be able to represent Europe is extra special. To win this thing back is even more special."
Europe retained the Ryder Cup in Paris winning 17 and half and to the USA's 10 and half points.
