Two people have died following a serious multi-vehicle collision that occurred on the M6.

M6 crash victims named

Police have confirmed that two drivers who died in a multi vehicle motorway collision on Monday morning have been identified.

Alan Walmsley, 62, of Preston and Michael Proctor, 22, of Southport, both died in the accident on the northbound carriageway of the M6 at around 8.15am yesterday morning.

The collision involved eight vehicles. Mr Proctor and Mr Walmsley both died at the scene.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the collision.
