Environmentalists step up 'frack free' campaign

Fracking drill in West Sussex

A local environmental group are stepping up the campaign for a 'frack free' Greater Manchester this weekend. Manchester Friends of the Earth will be at Salford Shopping Centre to talk to shoppers and collect signatures for a petition opposing fracking on Barton Moss.

Drilling company Igas are currently testing for shale gas at the site in Salford. An application for coal bed methane production in Davyhulme, near Barton Bridge, is also expected before Trafford council in the next few months.
