A former Scout leader jailed for sexual offences

An ex-Scout leader has been sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in jail for historical sexual offences against a child.

Peter Halliwell pleaded guilty on the day of his trial to three counts of indecent assault in the mid 1960s against a boy when he was 9 or 10 years old.

This was a gross abuse of his position of trust in the Scouts whereby he persistently exploited the boy for his own gratification.
